Fazia Ali Toudert

Fazia ALI-TOUDERT is full professor at the National School of Architecture of Paris Val de Seine ENSAPVS. She formerly studied and/or worked at different academic institutions: EPAU (Algeria), University of Freiburg (Germany), TU Dortmund University (Germany), and ENSASE (France). She first graduated in architecture (1994), then in urban design (2000). She holds a PhD in the fields of urban (micro) climatology and human biometeorology and completed a Habilitation in building physics and urban physics. Her teaching activity from 1995 to date for architecture and civil engineering students addresses climate-sensitive, energy-efficient, and environmental building and urban design including related background science, quantifying methods and techniques.

Her research approach is resolutely interdisciplinary and multi-scale by linking building & urban design with their physics, as well as with sustainability science. Her current research activity focusses on the energy performance of buildings, the interdependence between urban (micro)climate and indoor climate, outdoor thermal comfort, the mitigation of and adaptation to climate change in cities, modelling and measuring urban sustainability, the subtropics, and daylighting indoors and outdoors. 

Fazia ALI-TOUDERT conducted several own research projects which combine on-site field work, numerical modelling and theoretical developments: (I) Environmental Performance of Urban Buildings EPUB, (II) Climate Change, Urban Climate and Building Energy Efficiency KLISGEE and (III) Multi-criteria urban sustainability assessment CAMSUD. She also contributed in the FIRMINY VERT research project.
